Cathlyn StylinskiAs director of ALESE and a member of UMCES faculty, Cathlyn "Cat" Stylinski draws on her disparate experience in science research, education and media production. She is particularly interested in integrating science research and digital technology in K-12 classrooms and developing free-choice learning resources. Cat holds a doctoral degree in ecology, a master's degree in biology and a bachelor's degree in television and radio. Cat has worked in broadcast television and developed interactive educational materials at the California Institute for Biodiversity. Click here for her currriculum vitae. with GIS (iGIS) project and assists
with our Mapping and Monitoring
Maryland Streams (MAMMS) project. A West Virginia
native with bachelor's and
master's degrees in biology (stream and forest ecosystems), Cassie
has lead teacher professional development
focused on integrating technology in the classroom since 2000. JB ChurchillOur resident GIS specialist JB Churchill provides technical support
and advise to the iGIS and MAMMS projects. JB holds graduate and
undergraduate degrees in wildlife resources and has extensively studied
and modeled watersheds and land use with geospatial tools. An avid birder,
JB also regularly volunteers for bird surveys in West Virginia and Maryland. Abby BurkAbby Burk coordinates our Partners
in Ecology and Restoration of Schoolyards (PIERS) project. With
her degree in ecology and experience in environmental landscaping
and environmental education, Abby is helping Garrett County elementary
